About DMLab North-West
DMLab is a space for Disabled and Non-Disabled musicians, technologists, and makers to exchange practices and explore new accessible instruments.
This event: featuring free pizza!
Whether you’ve been to a DMLab event before or not, everyone is welcome at SODA, the home of our monthly inclusive music-making space.
This month, we’ll be spending some more time working towards March’s mini-hackathon. In groups, we’ll discuss what challenges to address, the technologies we might want to use, and the processes to make our ideas a reality.
Billy will talk us through the latest developments in virtual instrument modelling technology, comparing the newest models for violin in cello synthesis to previous developments in the field.
We’re also delighted to be inviting Maria Sappho, creative technologist, instrument designer, and collaborator with Mogwai, mushrooms, and AI, to speak to us about her latest and current work.
We’ll be finishing with a jam, in which all are invited to make music together using accessible instruments with the support of our musicians and facilitators.
