About DMLab North-West

DMLab is a space for Disabled and Non-Disabled musicians, technologists, and makers to exchange practices and explore new accessible instruments.

What to expect

Whether you’ve been to a DMLab event before or not, everyone is welcome at SODA, the home of our monthly inclusive music-making space.

This month, we are trialing our first mini-hackathon. Over the course of three hours, participants will team up to plan, present and maybe even prototype new ideas for accessible musical instruments and tools. We will provide some Arduinos and sensors and a few other bits and pieces. If you have an idea in mind feel free to bring a laptop and any other tools and materials you think you will need. Pizza will also be provided!

First time at DMLab? No problem! You can join the hackathon even if you haven’t been before. We’ll provide some really simple prototyping tools – simple electronics and some cardboard, Lego, play dough etc so that everyone can create something to feedback to the group, even if it’s not a full blown MIDI masterpiece!

Have a music or accessibility-based project you’d like to present? Contact us at dmlabnw@drakemusic.org to get involved!
