For the past 3 years Drake Music, in partnership with Spitalfields Music, has been running an annual 3-day inclusive music project for young people aged 13-18 years.
Our new project SoundBox will take place from 5-7 April 2016. Just as in previous years, Disabled and non-disabled young people aged 13 to 18 will work collaboratively to generate original music using assistive music technology and traditional musical instruments led and supported by a team of professional musicians.
SoundBox will offer an opportunity to try new instruments and learn basic skills. Young musicians who have never experienced music technology will be able to experiment and explore. The participants will use short video clips as inspiration to create a new soundtrack for it. Our long term aspiration is to create an inclusive ensemble with regular performance opportunities within the Spitalfields Music festivals and at various music events across East London.
