Today we are excited to release 3 new commissions by 4 talented rising stars.
The commissions are part of our DM Collective programme of career and creative development for Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent artists.
Our Ascendant Commission this year is a collaboration from poet and songwriter Miss Jacqui and BSL rapper and producer, Signkid.
Together they have created “See Us” – a track reflecting on these turbulent times and a powerful demand for visibility:
We are incredibly proud to share this vital music and encourage you to check out Miss Jacqui and Signkid across their socials.
We have two tracks to release from our Emergent Commission programme, created by two talented female artists, responding to the theme of ‘Risk’. These commissions are in partnership with Saffron.
Elle Chante has brought us a track where cool production meets sweet, yet unnerving vocals. Listen to “Safe” below, with a video by Kris Halpin:
Our second Emergent commission winner is experimental musician R.Dyer, whose track takes found sounds, field recordings and lilting melodies to create a broken folk gem.

Support Disabled artists
After these incredibly challenging 18 months – and in the face of ongoing uncertainty – we are proud to celebrate this work created during lockdown by these 4 incredible musicians.
We want to ask everyone to enjoy the tracks, share them, check out all the artists online and buy or stream their other music too.
Now, more than ever, the support of music fans is vital!
First off we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the artists involved for their patience through a challenging year.
We also want to give a big shout out to everyone who contributed to these fantastic tracks via mixing, mastering, vocals, studio time, video creation and more. Check the credits on the videos for details!
Finally, thank you to our supporters at Arts Council England, PRS Foundation, Help Musicians UK and The Sobell Foundation, whose funding makes creative commissions for Disabled talent possible.
