Funding for early career musicians

Drake Music is excited to launch a new open call for 3 Emergent Bursaries aimed at early career Disabled artists, supported by PRS Foundation through their Talent Development Network.

The Emergent Bursaries are for Asian, Black and Minority Ethnic artists who are at the start of their creative path. The funding and development on offer aims to support artists to develop their creative practice and career.

There are 3 Bursaries available; two for music of any genre and one specifically for a DJ, in memory of Charlie Williams.

The Drake Music team look forward to hearing from UK-based musicians who would benefit from a bit of funding to explore new creative ideas and take the next step in their musical career.

Carien Meijer, Chief Executive of Drake Music commented:

“Disabled artists – and particularly Disabled artists of colour – face many intersecting barriers when it comes to developing their creative practice and career. The Emergent Bursaries support artists right at the beginning of their journey, hopefully removing some of those barriers and creating a lasting impact for their musical practice.

We are really excited to meet new artists through this process. It’s a fantastic way for us to connect with up-and-coming Disabled musicians.”

All genres and ways of making music are welcome. The application process aims to be as accessible as possible. Please let us know if you have any feedback on that by emailing info@drakemusic.org.
