Working with conductor James Rose on a better baton.

James Rose

I’ve just had a meeting with James Rose where we were discussing the continued development of a conducting baton for James that is more sensitive, discreet and allows James to move forward in his career as a conductor. Drake Music R&D will be working with James to develop a very subtle clamping system for James’ glasses that will allow for the fixing of a baton to the right arm of his glasses. We will also be exploring the use of a sports band on the back of the glasses to aid stability, and going forward, look at how we can adjust the angle that the baton sits, if indeed this was desirable.

I’m delighted that we are able to work with James on this project, and it really sums up the focus and need for continuous new thinking and adaptability in access to music making. James is a man with a clear vision and is very driven. Artistically he has support and mentoring from the Royal Academy of Music – so really the only thing that is stopping him is that so far his baton is not working as well as it could be.

Very exciting, and an honour to be a part of your project.

Thanks James!
