Think2020 Partners Sharing Day

Discussion

Group of partners in a strategic SEN/D music projectOn Wednesday 9th March, Drake Music brought the partners of our Think2020 programme together at the House of Illustration in London for a day of sharing knowledge & practice.

Think2020 is a 3 year programme, funded by Youth Music, which aims to challenge the barriers to music-making faced by disabled musicians., through working in partnership across the music education sector to support music-making in SEN/D settings.

The aim of the Partners Sharing Day was to present findings from Think2020 Year 1 and to work strategically with partners to identify priorities and approaches to collaborative working as Think2020 transitions into Year 2.

The Think2020 partners are:

  • Youth Music
  • Norfolk & Norwich Festival Bridge
  • Treloar School
  • SoundHub Kent
  • Tower Hamlets Art & Music Education Service
  • Hertfordshire Music Hub

The day was a great success, with discussions framed by identifying:

  1. Indicators of increased inclusive practice
  2. Ways through which Think 2020 partners can work collaboratively to support the music education sector to become more meaningfully inclusive

The day challenged our current ways of working and encouraged all partners, including Drake Music, to reflect on and discuss their practice.

The result of which was a range of key learning points across four themes (Advocacy; Learning and Sharing; Delivery Innovation; and Amplifying our work) that enabled delegates to identify their top priorities for their Think 2020 partnership work, moving forward.

The Think 2020 Partners Sharing Day was an inspirational and engaging event that has given all involved food for thought about the reflections and aspirations of our practice as music leaders in SEN/D music education.

Drake Music would like to thank our Think 2020 partners and Youth Music for their contributions to the event.
