We are working with disabled musicians and hackers to support innovation and new ideas in music technology.

Four music/tech partnerships have been formed and mentored by one of our experienced Associate Musicians. Four disabled musicians have had the chance to explore bespoke technology to further develop their music. Four technologists have had the opportunity to work on a challenging live brief with a creative collaborator.

And now we are excited to share the results with you!

Join us on 27th May for the BIG REVEAL at our final showcase event led by disabled musician Kris Halpin (facebook event here)

Kris will be hosting, playing live with the amazing gesture-controlled MiMU gloves and introducing the 4 winning commissions from Drake Music’s North West Lab Challenge!

Seeing Kris perform live with the gloves is a wonderful experience. Watching him conjure strings out of thin air and kick start a drum sound with a single gesture is – quite simply – magical.

Come and get up close and personal with this cutting edge technology and hear about the new developments being hacked together by makers and musicians in Manchester.

Don’t miss the final showcase where the four finished dream instrument designs will be unveiled and played live for the very first time.

Can you build a whole new instrument – and learn to play it – in just 4 weeks? Come along and find out…
