Luke Lundin was the recipient of one of our Emergent commissions for early-career Disabled artists.
Funded by Help Musicians UK, the Emergent programme is designed to support Disabled musicians to build a portfolio career.
The programme creates chances for disabled musicians to write new music, train as music leaders, learn new skills and promote their work.
Luke commented:
“The theme of the commission is ‘nature and the environment’ and I have decided to take an abstract approach given the subject, thinking about tension and discord.
I have worked with music technology since I was 8 years old. I write sections of the piece in blocks – a melody here, a drum beat there – and combine them by mapping each section onto a key on the keyboard and triggering those parts during the live performance.”
