29th April 2018 – Royal Boil Alice play live at the Southbank Centre

Events

Royal Boil Alice will be performing their DMResonate commission “Echoes in Time” live at the Southbank Centre, as part of the Concrete Dreams weekend. The performance will take place at 1.30pm on Sunday 29th April. Read on for more info.

The commission was awarded to Royal Boil Alice last year by Drake Music in partnership with the Southbank Centre and was about responding to the buildings in a creative musical manner.

Club Soda band Royal Boil Alice playing live, one singer and lots of guitars

In 2017, Royal Boil Alice, a band of musicians from Club Soda in Croydon, spent time exploring Southbank Centre’s 1960s history and the eclectic performance history of Queen Elizabeth Hall’s early years, which included everything from classical music, jazz, progressive rock and folk music.

Their composition was inspired by the Brutalist architecture of the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank, with heavy instrumentation and nods to different genres which have been featured at the venue over the years.

Last year at our DM Resonate live event we celebrated bold, electric and eclectic music from talented Disabled artists from across the country.

Now for the first time it will be played in situ – the Brutalist tones reverberating around the Brutalist building.

Don’t miss your chance to catch Royal Boil Alice live at 1.30pm on 29th April 2018 in Zone 2 of the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer.

If you can’t make it along to the gig, watch our video of the commission here.
