About this session:

DMLab is a space for Disabled and Non-Disabled musicians, technologists, and makers to exchange practices and explore new accessible instruments.

This month, we’ll be looking at building simple Bluetooth midi controllers with knobs, buttons, and switches, using ESP32 micro-computers.

Anyone is welcome to bring along their own things to tinker with, or start new projects in the session. We will provide Arduinos, ESP32s, sensors, wires, and as usual, plenty of biscuits.

We’ll also be continuing to help one of our participants, Sam, customise and develop his RockBand MIDI guitar.

It will be an informal vibe but we are as always very happy for people to bring along projects for show and tell. Have a music or accessibility-based project you’d like to present? Contact us at dmlabnw@drakemusic.org to get involved!

Access information:

The entrance to Hackspace has a small step, with a ramp to make this accessible. The rest of the building has level access or a ramp, and there is an accessible toilet space. Please let us know of any specific access requirements by emailing info@drakemusic.org.
