About this session:
DMLab is a space for Disabled and Non-Disabled musicians, technologists, and makers to exchange practices and explore new accessible instruments.
After the success of the mini-hackathon back in March, we have decided to devote the next couple of DMLab sessions to collaboration and hands-on prototyping of accessible instruments in our temporary home at Manchester Hackspace.
We will be working with one of our long-term members, Sam, to further customise and develop his bespoke RockBand guitar, but we would also like people to bring along their own things to tinker with, or start new projects in the session. We will provide Arduinos, ESP32s, sensors, wires, and plenty of biscuits.
It will be an informal vibe but we are as always very happy for people to bring along projects for show and tell. Have a music or accessibility-based project you’d like to present? Contact us at dmlabnw@drakemusic.org to get involved!
Access information:
The entrance to Hackspace has a small step, with a ramp to make this accessible. The rest of the building has level access or a ramp, and there is an accessible toilet space. Please let us know of any specific access requirements by emailing info@drakemusic.org.
