DMLab North West is Drake Music’s community bringing together Disabled musicians, technologists, and makers to address access requirements through bespoke and adapted technologies, enabling access to music-making for all.

We are excited to invite you to DMLab NW presents: The Next Frontier in Accessibility, an exciting and groundbreaking event exploring the future of inclusive music-making and production. This is both an in-person and live stream event.

Join us at Manchester Metropolitan University’s School of Digital Arts (SODA), or watch online for an immersive journey into the world of accessible music creation.

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Inspiring Talks: Hear thought-provoking discussions with key figures from RolandFocusriteAbletonSoftube and Audio Modeling  around accessibility and inclusion.
  • Bespoke Innovation: Discuss the consultation and design process for an exciting new prototype device designed specifically for a disabled guitarist, including hearing the device in action!
  • Live Music Production Demo: Witness a comprehensive music production session unfolding in real-time led by our host, producer Jay Dasent.
  • Cutting-edge Technology Unveiled: Get a glimpse into the future with demos of groundbreaking new products that have revolutionized accessibility in music production over the past two years.

Who is this event for?

Disabled and non-disabled musicians, music producers, technologists, makers, and people interested in the possibilities of accessible music creation.

Accessibility Information:

  • The event will be BSL interpreted, alongside live captioning.
  • Quiet room/ space available.
  • SODA is fully accessible to wheelchair users, with accessible toilet facilities.
  • There is a Changing Places facility on the ground floor.
  • Several Disabled on-street parking spaces are available near the entrance to SODA, with other public car parks nearby.
