The Drake Music team is gearing up for the Open Orchestra performance which takes place in Hammersmith, London next week.
Open Orchestra is the culmination of a partnership project with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal College of Music, and the Tri-Borough Music Hub. The concert will bring together an audience of over 300 pupils, teachers and parents from special needs and mainstream primary schools for a fully inclusive and interactive event featuring repertoire by John Williams, Sibelius and Jonathan Dove as well as visuals, filming and audience participation.
The concert will feature the full forces of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and will be presented by Drake Music Associate Gawain Hewitt and conductor Timothy Redmond. Around 80 pupils and teachers will join the orchestra on stage to perform a new work which combines assistive music technology and traditional instruments, created by the participants in a series of workshops over the past academic year.
