2022 Emergent Artists: Where are they now?

We are excited to shine a spotlight on the talented 2022 Emergent Artists, SingSkateDJ, writer, speaker, and podcast host Sha Supangan (Crazy Little Asian), composer and musician André Louis (Onj) and anti-disciplinary artist DJ KUNTEAA!

In 2022, Drake Music had been chosen as the beneficiary of funds donated in memory of a young man named Charlie Williams, who had tragically passed away. The Charlie Williams Bursary had been exclusively open to applications from DJs/Producers, and we were thrilled to announce that Sha had been selected as the recipient of this bursary.

The Emergent Bursaries had been designated for Asian, Black, and Ethnically Diverse artists who were at the beginning stages of their creative careers. We are very grateful for the support that we have received for the Drake Music Collective. In 2022 the programme was supported by the PRS Foundation, Help Musicians UK, David Family Foundation, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation, Fenton Arts Trust, D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, the Leche Trust, and Idlewild Trust.

Since receiving the Drake Music bursary, the musicians have embarked on remarkable musical journeys filled with achievements and inspirations. From projects teaching blind students how to use Logic, to speaking at Ministry of Sound events and winning a British Arts Council award, they continue to showcase their creativity and passion.
