Case studies
Bradley Warwick
Bradley was the first musician to pilot the new ‘Introduction to music’ course that Drake Music created. The resources for the course were written using Clicker 5 software, so Bradley was able to access the resources using a head switch. He was able to work independently, and even take work home with him. He received a level 1 accredited outcome (equivalent of a GCSE D-G grade). “I enjoy DIY and using the internet. My favourite music is rock and country. I have been playing music with Drake Music since I was 6. I think the best thing about music is watching it on the computer”.
Jordan Andow
Jordan Andow has worked with Drake Music in the past on a range of composing and performing projects and found that Drake Music awakened the musician within him. Jordan who attended City Academy in Bristol successfully passed his GCSE music. With many obstacles to overcome including Jordan almost having to drop music, his favourite subject, the school funded one to one support from Drake Music for Jordan and now with a music qualification under his belt Jordan is off to college and will continue with his own musical projects as well as aspiring to be a composer for film and TV, like his inspiration Hans Zimmer.
“Music was not as important to me in the past, but since working with Drake Music and doing my GCSE; I have found a lot more enjoyment.”
Charlotte White
Charlotte White is one of Drake Music’s stars. Her determination and outstanding work over has been rewarded with a Bronze Arts Award for her performance of a bach Cello piece and in 2009 she was commissioned to compose the music for the Northern Lights music festival production "Havmannen's Sønn” in Tromsø, Norway. She composed it in Sibelius (using The Grid 2 and a Smartnav hands-free mouse) and it was later recorded by musicians in Tromsø. With support from our Drake Music team and Charlotte’s own practice and commitment she has achieved a skill and accuracy using technology similar to that of those that use conventional instruments.
"I listen to a variety of music which includes: Alan Pownall, Mumford and Sons, B.o.B, Brandon Flowers, Dinosaur Pile-up, Ellie Goulding, Rihanna, Laura Marling."
