In this wonderful track from our 2020/21 Emergent Commissions, Brighton-based musician R.Dyer brings their trademark playful experimentalism to a new broken folk gem, ‘Risk’.
R.Dyer was selected for the Emergent Commissions and worked with video artist Mouseonthetelly to create the video for this track.
In these 4 minutes of lilting, textured bedroom pop R.Dyer loops and layers rolling dice, penny whistles and harp to gorgeous effect. Over their hypnotic collage of found sound, percussion and sublime strings they explain that they are thinking “literally about Risk…all board games really”.
The Emergent Commissions aim to create opportunities for early-career Disabled artists and are supported by PRS Foundation, Help Musicians UK and Fenton Arts Trust. This commission was in partnership with Saffron.
