Head of Inclusion and Wellbeing


 We are excited to open applications for a new, part-time position at Drake Music: Head of Inclusion and Wellbeing. This essential role will help us to promote and embed an inclusive and supportive culture.

We are looking for an experienced Disabled leader to join our team. We use the word Disabled as a pan-impairment term to include Deaf, Disabled, Neurodivergent, Visually Impaired people, people with long-term health conditions, and/or with mental health conditions.

The role is wide-ranging, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and will cover all aspects of our work. You will help us to achieve our commitment to providing a safe, accessible, and diverse environment for making music.

The social model of disability must underpin all that you do. Embedding our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) principles and putting our EDI Plan into action will be a key priority. You will research, apply and promote inclusion and wellbeing initiatives and share best practice both internally and externally.

Job Description 

Job Title:                         Head of Inclusion and Wellbeing

Contract:                       Permanent

Salary:                              £40k pro rata

Working pattern:     21 hours per week (part-time), this can be      worked flexibly

Location:  DM office & resource hub, at Rich Mix in East London. Some remote working may be considered.

Holiday entitlement:   28 days paid annual leave (pro rata) in  addition to public bank holidays

Pension:  5% employee contribution with 3% employer contribution

Reporting To:   Chief Executive

Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the CEO, this new and essential role will help us to promote and embed an inclusive and supportive culture underpinned by the social model of disability.


  • Researching, applying and promoting inclusion and wellbeing initiatives and sharing best practice
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of equality legislation and translating this into practice to ensure our organisation meets statutory requirements
  • Providing advice, guidance and support on inclusion and wellbeing issues
  • Promoting changes within our organisation and across our networks
  • Writing, implementing and reviewing organisational policies, procedures and guides
  • Developing systems for reporting any incidents of discrimination
  • Responding to concerns and complaints in line with agreed policy and procedures
  • Understanding the collective and individual access needs of disabled musicians and helping to develop and implement access plans
  • Helping to develop, implement and monitor the organisation’s inclusion and wellbeing strategy
  • Developing and maintaining practical resources on inclusion and wellbeing such as ideas banks and sources of support
  • Developing and owning action plans with agreed objectives, measures and reporting
  • Developing and undertaking audits and surveys including qualitative interviews
  • Preparing and presenting reports and recommendations
  • Liaising with a wide range of groups and organisations in the sector
  • Preparing and delivering presentations, workshops and training to staff and other stakeholders

Skills, Experience, and Knowledge

  • Lived experience of disability
  • A commitment to the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion
  • A thorough understanding of the social model of disability
  • A thorough understanding of equality legislation
  • Strong project management skills​
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a national or international context
  • Confident, personable, persuasive, and tenacious
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working strategically and operationally
  • Ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
