Consultancy & Training
Drake Music provides bespoke consultancy and advice services, as well as a diverse range of training courses. We have devised four training courses, designed to give participants practical experience within a context of imaginative and creative thinking about music and disability. We also offer bespoke training covering many aspects of music, disability and assistive music technology (AMT).
Please see details of all our training courses below or contact us to discuss your exact requirements.
In addition to training, DM staff and associates also provide tailored consultancy and advice to individuals and organisations across England.
An example of our work:
On 5th April 2011, we delivered two sessions on accessible music making as part of Northampton University’s Inclusion Conference. Jonathan Westrup (DM Education associate) led the two workshops, mainly to non-music specialist students training to teach at primary level. Topics covered included accessible singing (as part of our ongoing partnership with Sing Up!), barriers to participation in music and a practical music making session based around the music of India, which used a range of assistive music technology.
Steve Cullingford-Agnew (Principal Lecturer / Divisional Leader for SEN and Inclusion at Northampton University) commented: ‘The student feedback was extremely positive and I know that you developed students’ perspectives on the reality of their responsibilities towards children and young people with SEN and/or disabilities’
These sessions form part of Drake Music’s ongoing commitment to training and supporting the music teaching workforce in the UK, in particular delivering training in universities and colleges who run PGCE Music courses.
