All of our courses are led by our highly-trained and experienced national training team, and are packed with practical examples from our real-world experience of breaking down disabling barriers to music.
Who are the courses for?
Anyone interested in learning more about accessible music-making.
It is not necessary to be a musician or a technology expert – our team are experienced in working with all levels of knowledge and ability.
Our courses are booked by schools, colleges, Music Hubs, bridge organisations, as well as many other arts and third sector organisations.
We offer a wide range of consultancy services to schools, colleges and Music Hubs, which can range from guidance and recommendations for assistive music technology, through to strategic planning of services and ensuring best practice in relation to inclusion and accessibility.
The Importance of Music: a National Plan for Music Education (Department of Education, 2011) aims for “equality of opportunity for all pupils, regardless of…whether they have special educational needs or disabilities“.
We are working with Music Hubs to make this a reality.
Each Music Education Hub is responsible for delivering a music education programme that is available to all children in their area, with four core roles to be covered, summarised as:
- Every child should be have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument
- Provide opportunities to play in ensembles
- Ensure clear progression routes are available
- Give every child the opportunity to sing
We work in partnership with Music Education Hubs and Bridge Organisations to integrate best practice in SEN/D music education into the programme, to ensure that they are delivering the four core roles for SEN/D pupils.
For example, we could work with your hub to identify areas of good practice and areas for improvement within SEN/D music delivery, and then – if needed – we can provide training or workshops for schools to improve the service.
