Drake Music is the leading national charity working in music, disability and technology. We specialise in the use of assistive technology to break down both physical and societal barriers to music-making.
We offer a wide range of high quality, lifelong-learning opportunities for people of all ages, working in partnership with schools, music hubs, universities, healthcare professionals, artists, technologists and more to improve access to music.
Our team has an excellent track record in delivering outreach, training and education initiatives, as well as developing new technologies and commissioning disabled practitioners to produce new artistic works.
“Supporting accessible music-making for SEND Children & Young People is a big priority for Essex Music Education Hub. Drake Music have been a key partner in this programme, both in terms of supporting research, a needs analysis and conference, but also offering project delivery, performances and staff training. Their skillsbase and knowledge of the sector is unprecedented.” Charly Richardson – Head of Essex Music Education Hub
We are currently working on a 3 year strategic programme funded by Youth Music called Think2020, which aims to develop the music education sector to break down barriers to music.
Our four key programme strands:
Learning & Participation – We deliver outreach and education initiatives in a wide range of settings, offering a wide range of high quality, lifelong-learning opportunities.
Training & Consultancy – We offer training and consultancy to music hubs, schools, arts organisations and more to share our expertise in SEND music delivery.
Research & Development – We bridge the gap between musicians and hackers, developers and technology makers to pioneer new accessible music technology.
Artistic Development – We support professional disabled musicians to develop their artistic practice so that they can play a major part in the cultural landscape.
