WeShare Producer for a networked Pecha Kucha event
April-June 2012
Fee: £1000
WeShare is a joint initiative between Drake Music and Furtherfield to explore and test how collaborative working between small, distinct organisations in the cultural sector can improve organisational sustainability while extending access and participation in arts & technologies and strengthen social bonds.
Brief
This micro-project is the first in a series of WeShare events to develop and test simple ways for people and small organisations (their staff, artists, communities and participants) to get to know each other and work together at a distance using digital technologies. Pecha Kucha (meaning chit-chat in Japanese) is a popular presentation format for artists and designers to meet and show their work. Each person shows 20 images each for 20 seconds in a 6 minute presentation that gives a rich introduction to their work.
We are looking for someone to help us to devise and host a networked Pecha Kucha event for three small groups (of 2 or 3) in three separate locations. Participants will share information about their work using screen-based, video conferencing.
Responsibilities
- Survey other work already being carried out in this field
- Work imaginitavely with existing, freely available, or low-cost technologies (web-cams, projetors, video conferencing software, mobile phones) to produce an accessible networked Pecha Kucha event providing an enjoyable, creative experience for all participants
- Produce documentation that will allow others to create their own accessible networked Pecha Kucha including:- documentation of the event; easy-to-follow technical instructions; guidelines for hosts and presenters
Skills
- Minimum of two years work experience working in the arts with technology (as an artist or producer)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly
- Imaginative and flexible
- Good technical trouble-shooter (able to work independently)
- Experience of working accessibly
