Artist Profile: Luke Lundin

We are pleased to welcome Luke Lundin to our series of Artist Profiles.

Luke was selected to be an Emergent commissionee in 2017 and produced a new electronic work titled “The Angle of Looking” which premiered at Bath Festivals.

Today we find out a little bit more about the man behind the music…

Name: Luke Lundin

Musical style(s): Breakbeat, dance, electronica

So, Luke, where did it all begin for you in making music?

I first got involved in music living in Europe when I was very young. My first music teacher was Hungarian, and he taught me Hungarian folk songs.

From there I met various other people throughout my life, until eventually I’m at the stage I’m at now, writing electronic music.

What would you say has been your biggest challenge so far?

Finding the strength to work when it doesn’t come naturally.

And your greatest triumph?

Probably recording an EP in Abbey Road, the same studio as the Beatles.

What would your dream collaboration be?

That’s easy: meeting and performing with Minilogue. They’re hugely influential for me. (Note from the editor: Minilogue are progressive trance DJs from Sweden. Listen here.)

What’s coming up for you next?

The next thing is to try and break out of this writer’s block I have at the moment!

I’d like to be in a position where I’m creating a new album. I’ve got the Funky Llama music festival coming up this year too.

Last, but definitely not least… When you are world famous, what will you demand on your rider backstage?

King crab salad. I love crab, and it’s supposed to be the biggest in the world.
